Workshop Manager for specialist door manufacturer

Role Introduction

My client is a global specialists in the design and manufacture of anti-ligature door systems for mental health hospitals and other secure facilities where there is a risk of patient self-harm.

The door systems from my client are unique in the way that they are supplied fully-assembled and often have anti-barricade hinges, ligature pressure sensors and other specialist hardware that requires a high-level of expertise and care to ensure the product operates correctly.

My client supplies to NHS mental health trust's across the UK, this is either directly or through their supply-chain, the door systems are provided on a supply-only basis or increasingly as a supply and install package.

Role Responsibilities and Duties

The role of the Workshop Manager is oversee the production team and ensure that all goods that are being produced are to the correct quality, at the right time to deliver on the agree production plan - at all times maintaining a safe work environment that allows the team to deliver to their maximum

· Daily management of workshop team (20-30 persons) and balance these to suit the production demands

· Daily output reporting

· Management of materials to make sure production output is optimized

· Health & safety in workshop

· Quality control of in-coming parts and finished goods

· Liaising with Head of Operations

Skills and Experience Required

To succeed in the Workshop Manager role the following skills and experience are required:

· A minimum 5-years joinery experience with a City& Guilds, GNVQ or equivalent qualification

· A track record of production management success

· Competency in MS Office programs such as Excel and Word

· Detail orientated with a methodical approach to working

· An excellent communicator, both spoken and written

· Experience in process improvements and LEAN production methods

· Can motivate and inspire a team to perform well and build a positive culture

Renumeration Package

· Annual salary £50,000

· Monthly performance bonus - this would be around £5,000 per year

· Annual holiday allowance of 20-days plus Bank Holidays
