We are seeking a dedicated Childrens Residential Support Worker to join our team in a children's home. This role is crucial in providing a safe, nurturing environment for young people aged between 5 and 17. You will be instrumental in promoting a caring atmosphere that meets individual needs while ensuring dignity, privacy, independence, and choice. This position requires a resilient, patient, and passionate individual who is eager to contribute to the development and well-being of children and young people.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Maintain a firm, caring, and consistent environment for the children.
  • Supervise children and young people during various daily activities, including mealtimes and after school.
  • Participate in care planning, develop risk assessments, and manage behaviour.
  • Engage in recreational activities with children, demonstrating positive role modelling.
  • Manage small budgets for evening and weekend activities.
  • Promote social and emotional well-being and development.
  • Liaise with staff, professionals, and families to maintain high levels of professionalism.
  • Undertake administrative tasks related to the care of children, including record-keeping and reporting.
  • Assist in developing and implementing behaviour management strategies.
  • Support the healthcare needs of children, including attending medical appointments and managing reports.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Children and Young Peoples Workforce Diploma or a commitment to work towards it.
  • Experience working with young people with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive information.
  • Proficient in IT, including email, internet, and electronic record-keeping.
  • Understanding of equality and diversity principles.
  • Ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement.
