The Opportunity:Our client, a fantastic business based in Durham offering Business Services and considered an expert in their field, are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Controller to step into a strategic leadership role and drive financial excellence.  Playing an integral role in securing ambitious growth plans, you will report directly to the CEO and be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. Overseeing financial operations and playing a critical role in the business' ongoing sustainability, efficiency and success.   This is a key leadership role, ensuring financial processes are compliant, effective and helping drive the business' long-term sustainability and success.  Main duties/responsibilities:
  • Strategic Financial Planning - support the development of long-term financial plans and assist in formulation of commercial models for product and business development;
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis - ensure accounts, reports, forecasts, budgets, VAT claims and other financial documentation are produced accurately and timely. Presenting financial data in a way that facilitates informed financial and operational decisions; 
  • Compliance & Fiduciary Oversight - ensuring the business' processes and methods adhere to UK GAAP, statutory and contractual requirements; 
  • Payroll & Asset Management - collaborate with HR colleagues to manage and control payroll activities, ensuring accurate service delivery to the team. Maintain an accurate asset register and ensure appropriate treatment within the P&L and Balance Sheet;
  • Audit Management - lead the preparation and completion of the external annual audit along with supporting internal and external audit activities as required; and
  • Team leadership - proven skills to effectively lead and manage the activities and development of the finance team whilst providing strong and supportive line management to cultivate a high performing and motivated team. 
You will be/have:
  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent;
  • Strong leadership and management skills;
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, management accounting, payroll oversight and compliance;
  • Analytical with excellent attention to detail; and
  • Strong business acumen.
