We are seeking an Avionics Engineer to join a dynamic team in North Oxfordshire. This role involves coordinating and managing all avionic activities to meet business requirements within a multi-function environment. The successful candidate will have a strong aviation background in avionics, with detailed engineering knowledge of aircraft avionic systems.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Coordinate and manage avionic activities in line with business requirements within a multi-function environment.
  • Capture and understand customer requirements, providing guidance to support cost-effective design and production solutions.
  • Apply systems engineering practices, tools, and methods to define avionic design concepts and integration from agreed customer requirements through to detailed design.
  • Ensure designs meet customer and certification requirements within a formal validation and verification process.
  • Undertake independent compliance verification when approved, in accordance with DOA privileges.
  • Produce and direct detailed design work in accordance with project milestones.
  • Discuss and present design concepts and solutions during customer and supplier meetings.
  • Support risk management through identification, assessment, and mitigation within the scope of responsibility.
  • Produce concise and accurate design descriptions to support change approvals and aircraft documentation.
  • Provide liaison support to production teams and define testing required to demonstrate compliance with customer and certification requirements.
  • Support testing activities and analyze results, generating or verifying compliance substantiation reports as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong aviation background in the avionics discipline, ideally with rotary-wing experience.
  • Detailed engineering knowledge of aircraft avionics systems.
  • Working knowledge of equipment qualification processes, FAR/CS-27 and FAR/CS-29 certification requirements, and EASA/CAA Part-21J DOA and MAA DAOS processes.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other CAD tools for electrical and harness design.
  • Experience using design lifecycle and configuration management tools.
  • Engineering degree or equivalent, with an apprenticeship or equivalent technical training.
  • Professionally accredited or working toward appropriate professional accreditation.
