The Role: Key Responsibilities

As a Transport Operator, you will play a key role in the smooth running of daily transport operations. Your duties will include:

  • Coordinating day-to-day vehicle and driver activity across a busy transport network
  • Assigning jobs, planning driver workloads and supporting efficient route execution
  • Monitoring vehicle progress throughout the shift and addressing issues proactively
  • Liaising with drivers, depots, customers and third-party partners to maintain service standards
  • Ensuring compliance with driver hours, transport legislation and company policies
  • Maintaining accurate records, completing system updates, and supporting reporting tasks
  • Working closely with the wider operations team to minimise delays and maximise fleet utilisation

About You

We’re keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Experience in a transport office, logistics coordination or a similar operational role
  • Strong communication skills and confidence when dealing with drivers and customers
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure
  • Good IT skills, including the use of transport systems and Microsoft Office
  • A positive, flexible approach to problem-solving in a fast-moving environment
  • Good geographical knowledge and an understanding of commercial transport operations

Experience within container logistics, general haulage or intermodal operations is highly desirable but not essential.
