Internal Audit Senior

I am currently partnering with a well-established professional services firm in Scotland who are looking to hire an experienced Internal Audit Senior to join their expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking variety, career development, and the chance to make a real impact with a diverse portfolio of clients.

The Role:

As an Internal Audit Senior, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality audit work for clients across a broad range of sectors including public sector bodies, housing providers, education institutions, and charities. No two weeks are the same – you could be reviewing governance processes at a college one week and assessing operational controls at a housing association the next.

You will take ownership of assignments from planning through to completion, liaising directly with clients, and providing insightful recommendations that add value to their operations. In addition, you’ll mentor and support junior members of the team, helping to develop the next generation of audit professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

- Plan and deliver internal audit assignments independently and as part of a team.

- Review and supervise the work of junior colleagues, providing guidance and feedback.

- Liaise directly with clients at all levels, building trusted working relationships.

- Present findings and recommendations clearly, including attending audit committee meetings.

- Support business development activities and contribute to the growth of the internal audit function.

What We’re Looking For:

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in internal audit, ideally in a client-facing role.

- Degree-qualified or with equivalent experience; working towards a professional qualification (CIIA or equivalent) is desirable, and support will be provided to complete it.

- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

- A proactive, adaptable, and collaborative approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Why Apply?

This role offers the chance to work in a supportive and people-focused environment where professional development is a priority. You’ll benefit from ongoing investment in your skills, structured progression opportunities, and exposure to a wide variety of clients and sectors.

What’s on Offer:

- Competitive salary and contributory pension scheme.

- Hybrid working model (50% remote).

- Support with professional qualifications and paid membership fees.

- Employee assistance programme, discounts, and a range of wellbeing initiatives.

- Regular social events and recognition awards.

- Clear career progression path – many of the firm’s leaders began as trainees and progressed through the business.

Location:

This role can be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh, with occasional travel across the UK.

If you are an experienced Internal Auditor ready to take the next step in your career, this opportunity offers variety, challenge, and the chance to grow within a supportive and ambitious firm.
