Deputy Room Leader – Pre-School Room – Up to £34,000

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Room Leader to join our client’s family-run day nursery. Housed in a beautiful Edwardian building with extensive gardens, the nursery cares for children aged 3 months to 5 years in well-equipped, organised rooms.

 

This role is primarily based within the Pre-School (3–5 years) room, working directly with children and the team, while also supporting the Room Leader in maintaining high standards, quality, and smooth day-to-day operations.

 

Before You Apply

  • Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (Level 5 desirable)
  • Experience supporting room leadership and promoting high standards across the setting

 

Key Job Details

  • Salary: Up to £34,000 depending on experience
  • 40 hours per week
  • Shift pattern: 7:30am–4:30pm or 9:30am–6:00pm
  • Full-time, permanent contract

What You’ll Need

  • Full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of the EYFS framework
  • Previous experience within a Pre-School room
  • Experience supporting room leadership (Deputy, Third in Charge, or equivalent)
  • Clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
  • Confident in leading teams and maintaining high-quality standards

 

What You’ll Do

  • Support the Room Leader in the day-to-day running of the room
  • Deputise in the Room Leader’s absence
  • Spend part of the week working directly with children and supporting the team
  • Lead planned EYFS activities and ensure high-quality continuous provision
  • Monitor observations, assessments, and planning
  • Support staff development through coaching and role modelling best practice
  • Maintain safeguarding, health and safety, and compliance standards
  • Assist with inspections, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Build strong partnerships with parents and external professionals
