Deputy Room Leader – Pre-School Room – Up to £34,000
We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Room Leader to join our client’s family-run day nursery. Housed in a beautiful Edwardian building with extensive gardens, the nursery cares for children aged 3 months to 5 years in well-equipped, organised rooms.
This role is primarily based within the Pre-School (3–5 years) room, working directly with children and the team, while also supporting the Room Leader in maintaining high standards, quality, and smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Job Details
- Salary: Up to £34,000 depending on experience
- 40 hours per week
- Shift pattern: 7:30am–4:30pm or 9:30am–6:00pm
- Full-time, permanent contract

What You’ll Need
- Full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of the EYFS framework
- Previous experience within a Pre-School room
- Experience supporting room leadership (Deputy, Third in Charge, or equivalent)
- Clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
- Confident in leading teams and maintaining high-quality standards
What You’ll Do
- Support the Room Leader in the day-to-day running of the room
- Deputise in the Room Leader’s absence
- Spend part of the week working directly with children and supporting the team
- Lead planned EYFS activities and ensure high-quality continuous provision
- Monitor observations, assessments, and planning
- Support staff development through coaching and role modelling best practice
- Maintain safeguarding, health and safety, and compliance standards
- Assist with inspections, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Build strong partnerships with parents and external professionals
