400kV SAP (Senior Authorised Person) - Offshore Wind Project

📍 Location: Dunbar, East Lothian (Onshore Substation)
💷 Rate: Up to £884 per day (DOE) - Outside IR35
📅 Contract: Initial 6 months (potential extension)
🔄 Rotation: 1 week on-site / 1 week remote / 1 week off

The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced 400kV Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to support a major offshore wind development during its post-construction and commissioning phase.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a high-profile renewable energy project, working across both onshore and offshore transmission systems.

The Role

Reporting to the OFTO Engineer, you'll be responsible for high-voltage network safety and operational control, ensuring safe and compliant energisation and ongoing system management.

You'll operate in a unique rotation:

On-site (SAP duties)
Remote (Control Person duties)
Week off

Key Responsibilities

Manage and control Safety from the System during post-construction and O&M phases
Act as SAP on-site and Control Person remotely within the project rotation
Support HV switching operations, including producing and reviewing switching schedules
Oversee contractor activities and ensure safe systems of work are adhered to
Attend and contribute to project meetings, progress reporting, and technical reviews
Support commissioning, testing, and quality assurance activities (FAT/SAT where required)
Promote and uphold health, safety, and environmental best practices

Requirements

Current 400kV SAP authorisation and Control Person experience (essential)
Strong experience working on GIS and AIS systems
Proven background in HV network safety, O&M, and commissioning
Experience within offshore wind or similar large-scale energy projects (minimum 3 years)
Knowledge of HV safety rules (NWSR/WTSR)
Ability to produce and review switching schedules
Relevant qualification (ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering or similar) or equivalent experience

Desirable

Full GWO certification (Sea Survival, Working at Height, First Aid, etc.)
Experience supporting offshore assets (ad-hoc basis)
