Construction Logistics Area Lead

Location: Somerset (Hinkley Point C Site)

Duration: 12m contract

Day rate: £400 - £440 per day worked inclusive of travel and accomdoation.

Are you an experienced logistics professional with a background in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects? We're seeking a Construction Logistics Area Lead to join a major UK-based nuclear new build programme, playing a vital role in one of Europe's most complex engineering projects.

About the Role

As a Construction Logistics Area Lead, you will oversee the logistics operations for a designated area of a large nuclear construction site. Working within a high-performing team, you'll ensure that materials and services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with strict construction schedules and compliance standards.

This is a key leadership role, managing logistics teams (including third-party providers) and driving operational excellence across logistics planning and execution. You'll be at the forefront of enabling one of the UK's largest low-carbon energy infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead daily logistics operations across a defined construction area.

Ensure timely, safe, and compliant delivery of materials to site.

*

Collaborate with construction, planning, and supply chain teams.

*

Develop, lead, and support a high-performing logistics team.

*

Use data-driven reporting and KPIs to drive decision-making.

*

Proactively address logistical risks, delays, or supply issues.

*

Promote a safety-first, customer-focused, and collaborative culture.

What We're Looking For

*

Significant logistics or supply chain leadership experience (5+ years).

*

Strong understanding of logistics within complex, regulated construction environments (nuclear, aerospace, infrastructure, etc.).

*

Proven ability to manage 3PLs and in-house logistics teams.

*

Skilled in stakeholder engagement, risk management, and logistics performance reporting.

*

Familiar with tools such as Power BI, MS Project, and logistics planning software.

*

Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience (logistics, engineering, or construction disciplines preferred).

Desirable Skills

*

Background in nuclear or other safety-critical industries.

*

Logistics-specific qualifications or certifications.

*

Experience with enterprise-level delivery and materials management systems.
