Project Manager | Engineering Projects

Colchester, Essex

£45,000-£50,000 + benefits

If you're managing engineering projects but still feel like an administrator chasing updates, this will frustrate you in a good way.

This role gives you proper ownership.

You'll be joining a specialist engineering manufacturer delivering high-specification mechanical systems into demanding industrial environments. The work is technical. Compliance-led. Built properly. Not just box-moving.

You'll take responsibility from contract award through to final handover.

What's genuinely different?

* You're not just updating trackers.

* You'll sit at the centre of engineering, production, suppliers and customers. You'll control schedules, manage risk, align technical detail and make sure projects land as they should.

* Multiple live projects. Different stakeholders. Real accountability.

The reality of the role:

This is hands-on project management inside a mechanical engineering business.

You'll:

* Plan and coordinate projects from kick-off to completion

* Manage documentation, timelines and resources

* Lead customer and supplier communication

* Identify and mitigate risk early

* Keep internal teams aligned and moving

You'll need enough mechanical understanding to hold your own in technical discussions. This isn't a purely commercial PM role.

What's on offer:

* £45,000-£50,000

* 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday (08:30-17:00)

* Stable engineering environment

* Growing order book

* Clear responsibility and autonomy

Who this suits:

Someone already delivering engineering or manufacturing projects.

You might be:

* A Project Manager in a mechanical or industrial setting

* A Project Engineer who has moved into project delivery

* Used to working with drawings, production teams and external suppliers

You'll need strong organisation skills, confidence dealing with customers, a full UK driving licence and eligibility for SC clearance.

If you want to own projects properly rather than just sit in meetings about them, it's worth a conversation
