HR Manager - Full-Time, Permanent - Cambridge, UK

Are you an experienced HR professional looking to make a real impact in a dynamic, innovative environment? We are seeking a proactive and skilled HR Manager to join our team in Cambridge.

About the Role

As HR Manager, you will lead and deliver HR operations across the business, ensuring a professional, efficient, and positive workplace culture. This office-based role combines people management, compliance, and employee support, working closely with leadership to drive engagement and development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Management

  • Serve as the first point of contact for all HR-related matters

  • Manage the full employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, probation, performance management, and offboarding

  • Maintain and update HR policies in line with UK employment law

  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, GDPR, and internal policies

  • Coordinate health & safety compliance, risk assessments, and office policies

  • Advise managers on employee relations, absence, conduct, and performance issues

  • Manage sickness, absence tracking, and holiday records

  • Oversee training, development, and appraisal processes

  • Support employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives

  • Administer employee benefits, pensions, and enrolment processes

  • Maintain accurate personnel records and HR systems

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in an HR Generalist or HR Management role

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills

  • Confident communicator, able to handle sensitive matters discreetly

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Familiarity with HRIS systems

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Desirable

  • CIPD qualification (Level 3 or above) or working towards

  • Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or technology environment

  • Experience in an SME or growing organisation
