Factory Manager

Overview
A results-driven Factory Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of factory operations. This pivotal role will be responsible for delivering operational excellence through strong leadership, end-to-end accountability for factory performance, and a clear focus on continuous improvement and team development with a strong emphasis on quality and on time in full delivery. The successful candidate will drive KPI ownership, implement best practice processes, and contribute to long-term business growth and transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team of approximately 60 factory staff.
- Operating on 3 shifts Conduct regular PDRs (Performance Development Reviews) and 1-2-1s to develop team members.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
Factory Operations:
- Full ownership and accountability for all factory processes and tasks, ensuring operational targets are achieved.
- Ensure product quality meets or exceeds a Right First Time (RFT) metric.
- Manage production planning team and workflow to meet delivery and quality targets.
Performance & Financial Accountability:
- Take ownership of KPIs, including productivity, quality, cost, delivery and safety.
- Accountability for Profit & Loss (P&L) within the factory unit.
- Drive operational efficiencies and cost reduction initiatives.
Process Improvement & Visual Management:
- Champion continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Initiate and embed the 5S methodology across the factory.
- Set up and maintain visual management tools to drive performance and clarity across all levels of the operation.
Stock & Purchasing Management:
- Oversee purchasing of key materials and stock control to ensure accurate inventory and cost-effective procurement.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Answering to the Operations Director and collaborate with key stakeholders across departments.
- Break down silos and improve interdepartmental communication and alignment.
Systems & Change Implementation:
- Lead the factory's journey from a basic operational state (e.g., limited or no ERP systems) to a modern, efficient and well-structured environment.
- Drive change management initiatives, encouraging staff buy-in and adoption.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Proven experience in a Factory Manager or similar leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
- Skilled in driving quality assurance, achieving RFT targets and promoting continuous improvement practices.
- Strong track record in implementing systems, process improvements and performance tools (e.g., 5S, visual management, Root cause analysis).
- Excellent change management skills, with experience in transforming culture and improving cross-functional communication.
- Solid experience in KPI ownership, production planning, P&L accountability, and team development.
- Previous experience in working at management level in a key accredited manufacturing environment
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 depending upon experience
