We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Training & Competence Supervisor to join a growing financial services organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical knowledge and supervisory experience to play a key role in ensuring the competence, development, and regulatory compliance of a team of regulated advisers.
This role sits within the Training & Competence (T&C) function and involves both one-to-one and group supervision, adviser development planning, and the delivery of training and feedback to support high standards across the business.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will support the Training & Competence Manager in the effective oversight and implementation of the firm’s Training & Competence Scheme. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervise a designated group of regulated advisers, including trainees and fully competent advisers.
- Create and analyse Management Information (MI) to support one-to-one T&C review meetings.
- Deliver training and feedback to advisers through role-play, live client observations, and file quality reviews.
- Construct and implement adviser development plans to address training needs.
- Assess new entrant knowledge and experience, creating relevant route-to-competence plans.
- Review adviser and supervisor CPD records and other performance MI, including complaints, conduct, and knowledge testing.
- Maintain accurate T&C records in line with scheme requirements.
- Liaise with adviser line managers and HR to support T&C performance and annual certification.
- Work collaboratively with other T&C supervisors, including covering for absences where needed.
- Maintain personal CPD records and demonstrate ongoing competence for certification purposes.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Minimum Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (Level 6 preferred).
- Supervision qualification such as JO7 or equivalent preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial services regulation (FCA rules and guidance).
- Experience in supervision skills: analysis, review, feedback, and adviser development.
- Understanding of the financial planning advice process and compliance requirements.
- Experience in conducting financial planning file quality assessments.
- IT literate: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Presentation and training skills to support T&C activities.
- Familiarity with financial planning products and services.
