We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Data Centre Engineer to support our healthcare organisation's vital IT infrastructure. This role is crucial to maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our data centres, ensuring that we deliver high-quality patient care through robust technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Cloud & Server Architect and Technology Manager to maintain the stability of core Data Centres and comms rooms.
  • Manage the physical server estate, coordinating installs, moves, changes, and decommissioning of physical assets.
  • Support the design and operation of highly resilient systems and enterprise-level critical Cloud & Server infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement robust risk management systems, adhering to Trust policies.
  • Ensure compliance with data management and confidentiality standards as per the Data Protection Act.
  • Maintain infection prevention and control measures within your area of responsibility.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Degree, HNC, HND with Distinction, or equivalent qualification in a relevant IT/technical discipline.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Prince II Practitioner certification or a lapsed accreditation.
  • Current ITIL v4 Foundation/Practitioner certificate or a lapsed ITIL v3.
  • Vendor-specific qualifications from Microsoft or other relevant providers.

Desired Skills:

  • Expertise in cloud platforms & architecture, on-premise compute & storage infrastructure, and virtualization environments (Microsoft Hyper-V & VMware).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server Roles, Microsoft 365, VPN solutions, Remote Desktop Services, and VDI solutions.
  • Experience in backup & recovery solutions, cyber security & antivirus solutions, and endpoint management solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex situations.
  • A commitment to high-quality patient care and continuous professional development.

Person Specification:

  • Strong communication and influencing skills to build effective relationships at all levels.
  • Self-aware and emotionally intelligent, promoting a positive team atmosphere.
  • A proactive approach to risk management and ability to minimise risks in work practises.

Miscellaneous Requirements:

  • A valid UK driving licence is essential, as travel to both main Trust sites is required regularly.
  • Willingness to undertake Security Check (SC) clearance.
