Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to supporting students with Special Educational Needs at a Secondary school in Pontypool.

This post is to cover a resignation so there will be an opportunity for you to join the school on a permanent contract pending a successful review in July 2022.
As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be required to support pupils on a 1:1 basis within lessons. The pupils you will be supporting will have varying additional learning needs and so require extra support to engage in learning activities within the mainstream lessons. For certain pupils, you will also be required to provide interventions outside of the classroom where needed.
The pupils will need support in developing their self-confidence, and social interaction skills. You will encourage them to take pride in their achievements, be confident in group participation, and in sharing ideas, as well as respecting those of others.
You will be required to provide feedback to the class teacher in relation to the pupil’s progress.
- Have a passion for supporting students from an academic, social and emotional perspective
- Have experience working with children with special educational needs
- Have an excellent understanding of varying special educational needs and the associated challenges
- Have a nurturing, caring, empathetic and composed personality
