We're supporting our client, a leading food company based in Newport (TF10), who are looking for a Farm Engineer / Mechanical / Agricultural Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Farm Engineer will have experience of Carry out routine servicing of all vehicles and Replace essential fluids and lubricants.

As part of the team, the Farm Engineer will report directly to the Workshop Manager and will primarily be responsible for servicing and maintenance of all farm machinery efficiently and to a high specification.

You will be working closely with the Workshop team to provide an excellent service to the

farming processes and support the overall company team in general terms. The primary responsibilities of the position are listed below. However, you may be requested to undertake extra duties by any Manager.

Responsibilities for Farm Engineer:

* Vehicle and Plant Servicing:

Carry out routine servicing of all vehicles.

Replace essential fluids and lubricants.

Ensure documentation is accurate and up to date.

Complete end of season overhaul and repairs on a wide range of agricultural machinery.

* Routine Maintenance:

Ensure all machines and vehicles are in good working condition.

Transfer equipment to alternative vehicles as necessary.

Replacing parts and assist in building new machines, within the workshop environment.

* Fault Diagnosis:

Diagnose faults on machines using hydraulic or pneumatic systems and low voltage electronics.

Ensure faults and repairs are carried out effectively and in a timely fashion.

* Field Based Repairs:

Carry out field-based repairs as and when required.

Deal with emergency breakdown repairs.

* Workshop Activities:

Ensure that any work carried out under the instruction and guidance of the Workshop Manager is done so efficiently and to a good standard.

Support Workshop colleagues with projects and developments on the workshop environment and in the field.

* Health and Safety:

Read and observe all authorised notices displayed in and around the workshop facilities.

Ensure that all Health and Safety regulations are followed.

Take all reasonable steps to safeguard the Health and Safety of those who are directly affected by your activities.

* Customer Awareness:

It is essential, due to the type of product produced and the equipment used, that Workshop staff are consciously aware of good working practices and principles are adhered to with regard to internal and external customers.

Company training is provided and must be observed.

About You:

Essential:

* Experience and knowledge of agricultural machine maintenance.

* Experience with Pneumatics and Hydraulics

* Strong ability for diagnostics and repairs

* Able to prioritise and manage own workload effectively.

* Enthusiastic, methodical and assertive

* Flexible working principles (working hours, environment and conditions)

* Excellent communication skills

* Strong H&S awareness

Desirable:

* Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications (level 3)

* Electronics and welding (TIG/MIG) skills

* Telescopic JCB driver

* Safe use of Oxy fuels

* Abrasive wheels

* MS Office Skills
