Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

This position must be capable of performing the required maintenance and service on customer and fleet vehicles with minimal support from others. This work is to be in accordance with DOT Regulations and also adhere to company-wide safety standards, as well. Task assignments are directed by shop management to encourage skill development in a productive manner. The hire will be responsible for providing in shop, and on-site roadside assistance in accordance to a “rotating on-call” schedule, and is required to diagnose and make necessary repairs on scene.


2 years’ experience is needed

Must have a high school diploma or GED

Tools to complete basic maintenance

Basic knowledge of hydraulics

Must have valid driver's license

Capable of completing jobs in a timely manner basic knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs of tractor trailers and box trucks

Additional Requirements:

DOT Annual Federal Inspection Certified

Valid CDL (license A) is highly desired must pass a background check must pass a drug test. Work well within a team and maintain regular attendance with a positive attitude

The technician must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 to 50lbs. regularly required to stand, walk, sit and kneel.


Mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment. Keeping a clean and organized work environment Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision Replace defective components as instructed work unsupervised on most tasks. Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
