My client is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team on a range of refurbishment projects, predominantly within the industrial and office sectors across North London. You will support the project QS in the commercial management and delivery of works to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake accurate take-offs from drawings and specifications for procurement and valuation purposes
• Assist in preparing and submitting monthly valuations and applications for payment
• Prepare, submit, and agree variations, ensuring all changes are documented, costed, and communicated efficiently
• Support in the preparation of interim and final account statements
• Attend site meetings to monitor progress and commercial performance
• Assist with subcontractor procurement, measurement, and payment certification
• Liaise with site teams to gather information and resolve commercial queries
• Maintain accurate records of works and variations
• Contribute to the monitoring of project costs against budgets and forecasts
• Support in compiling cost value reconciliations (CVRs) for monthly reporting

Requirements:

• Studying towards or holding a degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent qualification)
• Previous experience as a Trainee or Assistant QS, ideally within refurbishment or fit-out sectors
• Proficient in take-offs, valuations, and variation management
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail
• Good communication skills to liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and clients
• Ability to work under supervision while managing individual tasks proactively
• Familiarity with standard forms of construction contracts is beneficial
