We are currently seeking an experienced Design Manager for a permanent opportunity on a prestigious cut and carve commercial project in Moorgate, Central London. This is a site-based role with a highly respected main contractor, delivering a technically complex redevelopment in one of London's most sought-after areas.

🔧 The Project

A landmark cut and carve scheme involving extensive structural alterations to an existing commercial building. The scope includes significant demolition, complex temporary works, façade retention, CAT A/B fit-out, and full MEP integration. This is a logistically challenging, multi-phase project demanding design leadership from early construction through to completion.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

Manage the design process from pre-construction through delivery on site, reporting to the Project Director.

*

Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and internal delivery teams to ensure timely production of design deliverables.

*

Chair and lead design meetings, track actions and close out design risks.

*

Liaise closely with planning, structural, MEP, and architectural stakeholders.

*

Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, Building Control, and quality assurance procedures.

*

Provide input on buildability, programme constraints, and cost implications.

*

Interface with temporary works coordinators and manage change control process effectively.

✅ Requirements

*

Minimum 5+ years' experience in a Design Manager role with a main contractor.

*

Proven background delivering cut and carve or complex structural refurbishments in central London.

*

Experience on live sites coordinating design during delivery phases.

*

Strong knowledge of structural sequencing, temporary works, and MEP integration.

*

Able to manage high-pressure interfaces and resolve issues proactively on fast-track projects.

*

Excellent communication and leadership skills.

*

Degree qualified in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent.
