HGV Class 1 Driver – Doncaster, South Yorkshire

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, ongoing work, and genuine opportunities for growth and progression.

Shifts

• Monday to Friday
• 05:00 starts

Rates of Pay

• £16.07 per hour (basic)
• £24.11 per hour (after 48 hours)
• £25.00 per night out

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Carrying out RDC deliveries (curtain-side, no handball required)
• Operating and driving Class 1 vehicles safely and efficiently
• Completing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Ensuring all loads are correctly secured
• Adhering to UK traffic laws and transport regulations
• Communicating effectively with dispatch and customers
• Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance issues
• Assisting with loading and unloading when required

Essential Skills

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

• Valid UK Category CE Driving Licence
• Minimum of 24 months’ experience driving Category CE vehicles
• No more than six penalty points for minor offences (no major endorsement codes)
• Valid UK CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
• Good level of spoken and written English
• Excellent punctuality and time-keeping skills
• Strong understanding of road safety and traffic regulations
• Effective communication skills

Desirable Experience

• Previous commercial driving experience
• Previous multi-drop delivery experience

Training Provided

• Driver assessment required prior to starting
• One-day paid induction following a successful assessment
• Industry-related training and ongoing support throughout your assignment
