Join a growing and friendly engineering manufacturing business as a Mechanical CAD Engineer, where you'll take a senior role in a small, collaborative team. This is a hands-on position with added responsibility for overseeing junior engineers and interpreting mechanical draughting requirements from both internal colleagues and external customers.

As a Mechanical CAD Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and clarity of CAD drawings, mentoring junior team members, and acting as a key point of contact for translating customer requirements into manufacturable designs. You'll work on a variety of low-volume, high-quality mechanical products including CNC machined components, sheet metal fabrications, and mechanical assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the CAD function as a Mechanical CAD Engineer

• Interpret and translate customer and colleague requirements into detailed CAD drawings

• Oversee and mentor junior CAD engineers, ensuring quality and consistency

• Participate in weekly project review meetings and contribute to continuous improvement

• Maintain and update CAD models and drawings for a range of mechanical products

Ideal Background:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical CAD Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, or similar

• Strong 3D CAD skills (Solid Edge, SolidWorks, or similar)

• HND, HNC, BTEC Level 4, or degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

• A collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving

• Comfortable working in a low-volume, high-variety engineering environment
