Responsible for the consistency and quality of manufactured product from a chemical standpoint.
Position is part-time (approximately 30 hours): Monday to Friday, 3 pm – 9 pm or 4 pm – 10 pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide manufacturing/production assistance/guidance; identify process improvements to enhance production.
Ensure product quality and inventory utilization by assisting appropriate personnel to confirm that product specifications are met consistently and partials, obsolete, and quarantined materials are fully utilized. Cross reference and rework distressed/returned products into new batches.
Assure timely response to raw material acceptance/rejection testing requirements.
Author detailed analytical and research reports for completed projects and communicate this information to customers and company sales/service personnel in a timely fashion meeting expected timeliness.
Validate analytical methods for both in-house and field-testing analysis.
Ability to color-match batches, perform trouble-shooting, investigate out-of-specifications.
Able to operate and interpret data on various analytical instruments such as but not limited to: FT-IR (infrared spectroscopy), DMA (dynamic mechanical analyzer), GC/MS (gas chromatography/mass spectrometry), HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography), UV-Vis (spectroscopy) and various rheological and pH testers.
Identifies, calibrates and maintains instruments, equipment and lab supplies.
Flexible and willing to perform other duties as needed (fill lab batched into components, prepare evaluation sheets, and prepare labels.
Education and Experience:
An Associate's degree in Chemistry or another related field preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a lab setting.
Able to troubleshoot quality issues and determine locus of failure and corrective actions efficiently.
Excellent knowledge and experience with analytical instruments.
Must have excellent computer and analytical skills.
Excellent communication both oral and written; excellent English grammar and writing skills.
Must be detail oriented and well organized. Must be able to maintain a neat and orderly laboratory.
The ability to manage multiple, detailed projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
