Social Worker - Family Support Team | Vale of Glamorgan Council

Are you a passionate and dedicated Social Worker committed to strengthening families and ensuring the well-being of children? The Vale of Glamorgan Council is looking for a skilled and committed Social Worker to join their vital Family Support Team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact by supporting families to build resilience and achieve positive outcomes.

Salary: £39,428 - £48,421 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role:

As a Social Worker in the Family Support Team, you will play a crucial role in providing support and interventions to families to prevent escalation of concerns and promote positive change. You will manage a diverse caseload of children and families, building strong relationships and implementing child-centred plans. Your responsibilities will typically include:

Undertaking comprehensive assessments of children and families' needs through direct work and engagement.
Developing, implementing, and reviewing robust child-centred plans in collaboration with families and other professionals.
Providing practical and emotional support to families facing various challenges (e.g., parenting difficulties, domestic issues, financial hardship), aiming to build their capacity and resilience.
Working with children and families on long-term plans to address complex needs and minimise risks.
Collaborating effectively with multi-agency partners, including schools, health services, and community groups, to ensure holistic and integrated support.
Preparing accurate and timely reports for case conferences, reviews, and court proceedings where necessary.
Contributing to an innovative team culture that embraces strength-based approaches.

What We're Looking For:

A Social Work Degree or equivalent relevant degree.
At least 2 years of post-qualifying experience working directly with children and families in the UK, ideally within a family support or similar statutory children's social work setting.
Registered with Social Care Wales.
An up-to-date Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).
