Process Engineer - Water / Wastewater

We are partnering with several top engineering consultancies and delivery partners across the UK water sector, seeking to expand Process Engineering teams as part of significant, long-term AMP frameworks. This is a fantastic opportunity to join high-performing teams working on critical infrastructure projects aimed at improving water quality, environmental sustainability, and asset resilience throughout the UK.

The Role

As a Process Engineer, you will be integral to the delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects across the full project lifecycle. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will support a range of activities, from early-stage option assessments to detailed design and construction support.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide process engineering input for water and wastewater treatment projects

- Support optioneering, feasibility studies, and outline/detailed design phases

- Produce and review technical deliverables, including:

- Process flow diagrams and process calculations

- Performance reports

- Equipment specifications

- Control philosophies

- Contribute to process optimisation of existing treatment facilities and infrastructure

- Collaborate with colleagues across civil, mechanical, electrical, and ICA disciplines

- Support digital engineering and modern design approaches

- Engage with clients and stakeholders regarding technical solutions and project progress

- Ensure all work adheres to industry standards, safety, and environmental regulations

About You

- Experience in the UK water or wastewater sector

- Strong knowledge of treatment processes and plant design

- Background in engineering consultancy or capital project delivery

- Ability to work across multiple project phases (from FEED to detailed design and delivery support)

- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

- Proactive and solutions-focused mindset

Qualifications

- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline

- Working towards or holding professional membership (such as IChemE, CIWEM, or similar)
