Job Summary:

To carry out internal and external painting, decorating, and associated first fix maintenance tasks across a range of supported housing properties. You will ensure that all works are completed to a high standard, with full regard to the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of our vulnerable residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces and apply finishes to walls, ceilings, woodwork, and other surfaces.
  • Undertake internal and external painting works across residential properties.
  • Carry out remedial decoration following repairs or void property works.
  • Select and mix appropriate paint colours and finishes according to specifications.
  • Ensure all materials and tools are used and stored safely and responsibly.
  • Liaise sensitively with residents and support staff while working in occupied properties.
  • Keep work areas clean and tidy and ensure minimal disruption to residents.
  • Participate in out-of-hours or emergency response rotas, if required.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed using provided job systems or forms.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in painting and decorating.
  • Basic knowledge of other first fix trades (joinery, plumbing, plastering).
  • Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries when working with vulnerable adults.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Commitment to maintaining safe, clean, and habitable living environments.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Painting & Decorating or a relevant trade.
  • Previous experience working in supported housing, social housing, or similar settings.
  • Awareness of COSHH regulations and H&S compliance in residential settings.

Additional Information

  • This role may involve working in challenging environments and dealing with individuals with complex needs.
  • A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required prior to appointment.
  • Training and support will be provided to help you succeed in the role.
