A long-established business is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team and support the smooth running of day-to-day accounting activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with finance experience who is looking to take the next step in their career in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

The Role

* Reporting to the Management Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

* Assisting with monthly management accounts preparation

* Maintaining the purchase and sales ledgers

* Posting journals, accruals and prepayments

* Bank reconciliations

* Assisting with costings and stock analysis

* Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes

* Preparing VAT returns

* Assisting with year-end processes and audit queries

* Providing general support to the finance team as required

About You

We're looking for someone who is proactive, accurate and enjoys working as part of a small, collaborative team.

You will ideally have:

* Experience in a similar finance or assistant accountant role

* Strong Excel skills and good working knowledge of accounting systems

* AAT qualification or currently studying (preferred)

* Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills

* A willingness to assist with both routine tasks and more complex finance work
