Operations Manager£40,000 - £60,000 + BenefitsAbout the Role: We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead and manage operations at a busy distribution site. This role is key to ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective handling of goods, while delivering excellent service to customers and driving continuous improvement across all warehouse functions.The successful candidate will be a strong leader with proven experience in logistics or 3PL environments, capable of optimising performance, developing teams, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities: - Oversee daily warehouse operations, including goods-in, storage, order picking, despatch, and returns.
- Ensure all activities meet company standards for safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Manage, coach, and develop warehouse teams — including supervisors, shift managers, and operatives — to achieve performance targets.
- Plan and allocate labour, equipment, and resources in line with operational demands.
- Maintain compliance with Health & Safety, environmental, and quality standards, ensuring audits and inspections are completed and findings addressed.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as pick accuracy, stock loss, and productivity.
- Maintain stock integrity through cycle counts, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Manage operational budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.
- Lead and support continuous improvement projects, including process optimisation and technology utilisation.
- Collaborate with transport, customer service, and commercial teams to deliver seamless end-to-end operations.
- Ensure the warehouse environment is safe, clean, and compliant with housekeeping standards.
- Oversee contractor and supplier activity, including maintenance, cleaning, and security services.
Experience & Qualifications: - Proven experience managing warehouse operations within logistics, distribution, or 3PL environments.
- Strong leadership experience, ideally within a multi-shift, high-volume operation.
- Demonstrated ability to improve operational performance and efficiency.
- Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent understanding of Health & Safety, manual handling, and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing budgets, costs, and KPIs.
- Desirable: IOSH or NEBOSH certification, FLT licence, or Lean / Continuous Improvement training.
