Tradewind Recruitment is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Harrow seeking a Science Technician to join their team from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the science department, supporting teachers and students while helping to ensure the smooth running of laboratory-based lessons.

Science Technician - Role Overview

As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education. You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare resources, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe and well-organised laboratory environment. Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for practical science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
Assisting teachers during practical sessions where required
Cleaning, maintaining, and storing laboratory equipment safely and correctly
Preparing chemical solutions and managing stock levels of resources and consumables
Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, including COSHH regulations
Supporting the organisation and upkeep of laboratories and prep rooms
Carrying out risk assessments and helping to ensure safe practical work
Managing the safe disposal of waste materials in line with school policies
Supporting the science department with general administrative and technical tasks
Maintaining accurate records of equipment, stock, and experiments

Requirements

Previous experience in a laboratory, school, or technical environment (desirable but not essential)
A strong interest in science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics background desirable)
Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a lab setting (training can be provided)
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Calm, reliable, and proactive approach to work
Strong communication skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
