Job Description


Comprehensive Energy Services, Inc. (CES) is an award-winning, self-performing provider and recognized leader in Design Build, Mechanical Contracting and Plumbing. CES provides a full range of advanced HVAC commercial, healthcare and industrial services, including mechanical engineering design, mechanical construction, plumbing, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), preventative maintenance, system maintenance, repairs and replacement.

The Sheet Metal Foreman is responsible for supervising the field and subcontractor workers, and is directly responsible for field installation activities in a specifically assigned area. The Sheet Metal Foreman will also supervise skilled and semi-skilled workers in the repair and construction of sheet metal roofs, ducts and fixtures, equipment and apparatus.

Essential Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate activities for the work crew (Mechanics, Apprentices, Helpers, and Laborers
  • Engage in the fabrication and installation of HVAC systems, products and equipment
  • Manage workforce through project planning and providing leadership direction
  • Promote safety awareness and leadership to the project team by holding tool talks on a weekly basis
  • Track and manage labor hours on a daily basis ensuring project cost estimates are met
  • Read and interpret plans, submit job specifications and job orders as needed for each individual project
  • Manage workforce through project planning and providing leadership direction
  • Selects the gauge type, as well as the type of sheet metal, to blend with the product being fabricated and installed
  • Frequently review job specifications, so as to remain up to date with any changes that may arise
  • Supervise, direct and coordinate activities for assigned workers as it relates to fabricating and installing HVAC assemblies and systems.
  • Ensure entire crew is appropriately trained on proper use of hand tools, portable power tools and other specialized equipment.
  • Ensure compliance during the assembly of systems in buildings, as well as work sites by carefully reviewing blueprints, specifications and other resource information
  • Inspect assemblies and installation work for conformance with plans, specifications and trade standards using naked eye, as well as measuring instruments, such as measuring tape, rule, plumb bob or leveler
  • Explain and enforce company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
  • Establish and adjust work sequences to meet the construction schedule by using knowledge of capacities, use of equipment and assigned personnel
  • Study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job
  • Analyze and resolve work problems
  • Maintain records
  • Evaluate and document work performance of assigned personnel
  • Provide time estimates for contracts as needed
  • Perform routine HVAC installation activities without direct oversight or on-site assistance
  • Assists in training new CES employees on installation related subjects
  • Conforms to all applicable CES Policies and Procedures
  • Responsible for calling in all inspections to the proper municipalities in a timely manner
  • Responsible for coordinating all subcontractors (such as insulators/control subcontractors) and ensure they stay on schedule
  • Accurately estimates hours and materials for scheduled jobs
  • Performs normal clerical functions as needed (Example: Timesheets, Daily Reports, Receive Tickets, etc.)
  • Conducts non-installation work in support of the Fabrication Shop and Service Departments, as assigned
  • Performs related duties as directed by the applicable CES Trade Manager/Superintendent or CES Project Manager

Non-Essential Duties

  • Work with other trades to coordinate matters as needed
  • Use self-initiative to remain current with industry trends (engage in webinars, virtual conferences, educational reading, etc.)
  • Accept and perform other work as assigned

  • 10 years previous experience as Sheet Metal Mechanic
  • 3 years previous experience as a Sheet Metal Foreman, preferred


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Able to meet time schedules, deadlines, as well as plan and organize work efficiently
  • Must be able to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage company demands simultaneously
  • Able to balance task priority levels and meeting deadlines
  • Exhibit strong problem solving capabilities
  • Strong level of HVAC application knowledge


  • Valid Florida Driver's License is required
  • Incumbent must be insurable at all times by CES insurance carrier

Local and occasional out of town travel within Florida is required.
