Job Description


Job Summary

The Service Writer is in constant contact with our customers and vendors; the ideal individual must have a positive and motivated work ethic with a proven track record.  This position under the direction of the Service Manager ensures that equipment and parts are available for purchase and repairs, customers receives all the necessary information on the status of their equipment, filing warranties, coordinate the process of receiving and processing work orders through the entire process.

We continue to provide exceptional customer service to all our customers and we are looking for the right person that values our customers.  


Job Duties

  • Provide information about products and services

  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints

  • Work with technicians and customers to identify required maintenance

  • Advises customers on necessary/suggested services, and complete customer authorizations

  • Computes cost of repairs and replacement parts

  • Contact customers on equipment status (parts, additional cost, pick up, storage fee, etc.)

  • Document and update customer records based on interactions and progress on repairs

  • Perform final inspection of the equipment

  • Ensure availability of products and services by updating contracts, and renewing dealership status

  • File warranty on repairs with manufacturers

  • Track product use and sales, and reconcile inventory

  • Purchase stock (whole goods and parts)

  • Provide a safe, clean, and positive environment for employees and customers; ensure the building, vehicles, and equipment is functional and appropriately maintained

  • Ensure the shop has all materials and tools required for daily operation

  • Monitor Service Department processes and intervene where necessary to keep productive workflow; move work orders through creation, triage, repair, and completion stages

Requirements and skills

  • Exemplary customer service skills are a must

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent problem solving/resolutions skills

  • Previous experience as a Service Writer/Advisor a plus

  • Knowledge of Outdoor Lawn Equipment a plus

  • Experience with google drive (docs and sheets)/Microsoft Office a plus

 Compensation:  $13 per hour and increases with training

Working Conditions

 Work in an office environment and in the service area. May work beyond regular shift hours and on Saturdays.  Exposure to noise, chemical fumes (oil, gas, carburetor cleaner etc.), and working with moving and sharp objects.
