We are partnering with a dynamic and growing accounting practice on the lookout for a strategic and experienced Head of Tax to lead its tax function. This is an opportunity for a forward-thinking professional to shape tax strategy, deliver high-quality advisory and compliance services, and support innovative businesses across the UK.

?? As a Head of Tax you will:

  • Oversee and enhance tax delivery across all service lines; maintain high technical standards and review processes.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, including founders, delivering clear, commercially sound advice.
  • Lead R&D claims with a focus on compliance and maximising value; guide on tax incentives and technical methodologies.
  • Design and deliver structured training for the team, including onboarding and ongoing development across technical and soft skills.
  • Support marketing, content creation, and the identification of upsell opportunities alongside the leadership and sales teams.
  • Line manage the tax team; contribute to recruitment, performance management, and internal process improvements.
  • Ensure full compliance on all submissions and filings; respond to HMRC queries and manage risk across the tax portfolio.

?? You'll likely be someone who:

  • Is a confident communicator, capable of simplifying complex tax topics for non-experts.
  • Has at least five years’ client-facing experience in a professional practice, with solid knowledge of compliance services including year-end accounts, VAT, and payroll.
  • Is CTA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Has in-depth knowledge of UK corporate tax.
  • Is commercially savvy, with the ability to identify opportunities for growth, improvement, and innovation.
  • Has experience in managing client relationships at a strategic level, including handling sensitive or complex discussions.
