Senior Waste Operations Manager - Facilities & Environmental Services - Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Council - Hybrid Working (B98 8AH)

I am currently representing Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate of which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Senior Operations Manager based at: B98 8AH

Key Accountabilities:

This interim role will ensure day - day service delivery and the operational management teams are supported whilst a dedicated project team carry out a full-service review on Domestic Waste Collection arrangements and Fleet Maintenance to support future service planning.

* Responsible for management and operation of the waste collection services and Fleet Management/Workshop functions across Bromsgrove and Redditch, ensuring consistency in how services are operated and managed

* To keep under continual review all operational practices relating to Waste Collection and the Workshop and develop alternative practices with the Operational Management Teams where required.

* Ensure that processes are in place and followed to ensure staffing levels, holiday cover and overtime are planned and managed proactively, and support sickness management arrangements to minimise impact on services

* To carry out performance monitoring and management of services using data relevant to the service areas, to ensure any operational issues are identified and resolved as quickly as possible

* To ensure operational management teams across Environmental Services, and Housing Property, are taking full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Council's vehicles, ensuring adherence to operational procedure and all driving/vehicle related regulations.

* To ensure that vehicles are regularly inspected, serviced, and maintained to the correct standard by the Workshop

* To support implementation of ABAVUS within the Domestic & Commercial Waste Services as our primary CRM and work planning tool

* To deal with enquiries and complaints including liaising with the public, staff, Councillors and outside agencies both verbally and in writing

* To ensure procurement compliance in the sourcing of external contracts and providers, and engagement with relevant corporate approval panels such as the System and Data Governance Board (SAD) where applicable

Requirements:

* At least 5 years management experience at a senior level to include the management of a team of staff from a range of disciplines and other associated resources

* Detailed knowledge of policies and legislation relating to waste management and a good knowledge of wider environmental services delivered by the Department.

* Experience of managing complex budgets, both capital and revenue

* Experience of developing, implementing policies and procedures

* Experience of contract and SLA management.
