Transport Administrator (European Road Freight Import Clerk)
Contract Details:
* Salary: £27,000 - £29,000 per annum (depending on experience)
* Location: Basildon, Essex
* Hours: 37.5 hours per week
* Working Days: Monday to Friday (09:00 - 17:30)
* Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a secure and well-organised freight operation based in Basildon as Transport Administrator. The role would suit a reliable and detail-focused administrator who enjoys working in a busy logistics office, values accuracy, and takes pride in ensuring smooth day-to-day transport coordination.
As Transport Administrator You Will:
* Provide daily administrative support to the Transport and Operations team to ensure timely and compliant freight coordination.
* Liaise with drivers and other internal teams to maintain accurate delivery records and operational updates.
* Manage all relevant transport documents, ensuring information is filed, scanned, and uploaded correctly.
* Monitor service levels and communicate delays or issues clearly and professionally.
As Transport Administrator Your Key Responsibilities Include:
* Driver Liaison: Act as the first point of contact for drivers, supporting with paperwork and assisting with daily queries.
* Documentation: Ensure PODs, manifests, and relevant compliance documents are processed accurately and timely filed.
* Customer Updates: Communicate any ETA changes, delivery delays, or completed drops to the appropriate contacts; escalate any service exceptions.
* Data Entry: Upload documents and input transport data with a high level of accuracy to ensure records are complete and audit-ready.
* SLA Monitoring: Support the team in tracking delivery performance and raising issues proactively when agreed service levels are at risk.
The Transport Administrator Specification Is:
* Experience: Minimum 2 years' recent experience in an ERF (European Road Freight) import role within a transport or logistics environment.
* Skills: Strong administrative and data entry skills essential; ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
* Communication: Clear telephone and written communication skills.
* Organisation: Comfortable managing multiple tasks, prioritising workloads, and remaining calm under pressure.
* Industry Familiarity: Understanding of transport documentation and delivery processes will be beneficial.
Note: A DBS check (funded by the company) will also be required - a clean record is essential.
Working Conditions
* The office operates within the wider warehouse environment. Start and finish times may vary slightly depending on operational demands.
* The role is primarily desk-based but may require occasional movement around the depot to liaise with drivers or access paperwork.
