We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join the current team, providing leadership, assurance, and support across a range of rail projects.

In this role, you will take responsibility for promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with statutory, industry, and company requirements, and leading a team of Health & Safety Advisors to deliver high standards across all operational activities.

You will be the key point of contact for safety matters within your business area, liaising with management, operational teams, contractors, and clients to ensure safe and efficient delivery of works.

Key Responsibilities

Promote and embed Health & Safety best practice at all levels, including contractors and supply chain.

Ensure compliance with the Railway Safety Certification, Principal Contractor licence, ISO standards, legislation, and client requirements.

*

Support the production and delivery of risk-based audit programmes, ensuring findings are managed and closed out.

*

Manage accurate record-keeping on the system, providing statistics and reports as required.

*

Undertake accident and incident investigations, producing detailed reports and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

*

Provide professional H&S advice on legislation, safe systems of work, plant/equipment use, supplier accreditation, and investigation processes.

*

Conduct site safety inspections and conversations, capturing and reporting both positive and negative performance.

*

Monitor H&S involvement throughout the project life cycle to ensure hazards are identified and controlled.

Lead and develop a team of Health & Safety Advisors, conducting appraisals and identifying training needs.

*

Liaise directly with clients on health, safety, and welfare matters.

*

Participate in on-call duties in line with business requirements.

*

Drive environmental responsibility in line with guidance and policies.

The successful candidate will hold;

NEBOSH Diploma

*

Experience in a Health & Safety role specifically within the Railway Sector..

*

Auditor training.

*

PTS competency.

*

Full UK driving licence.
