Job Title: Deputy Manager - Children's Residential Home
Location: Manchester
Salary: £35,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (day shifts, with on-call responsibilities)
About the RoleWe are working in partnership with a well-established children's residential care provider to recruit a Deputy Manager for a 3-bed EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) children's home in Manchester.
The home supports young people aged 8-17 with emotional and behavioural needs, and is committed to providing therapeutic, trauma-informed care in a safe, stable and nurturing environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Support Worker looking to step up, or an existing Deputy Manager seeking a new challenge within a supportive, child-focused organisation.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
Lead by example in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to young people
Provide supervision, guidance and support to residential support staff
Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and safeguarding protocols
Promote a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach to managing behaviour
Assist with rota planning, audits, incident reviews and other operational tasks
Act as part of the on-call rota in support of the Registered Manager
Maintain accurate records in line with regulatory requirements
RequirementsEssential:
Experience working in a children's residential care setting (minimum 2 years)
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Understanding of The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
Strong communication, team leadership and safeguarding knowledge
Passion for supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Currently working as a Deputy Manager or Senior Residential Support Worker
Working towards or open to completing Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
Therapeutic or trauma-informed care experience
