Company: ANONYMOUS

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Are you passionate about sustainable energy and turning waste into renewable power? Join us as an Operations Technician at our Energy Recovery Facility in Aberdeen, where we generate clean electricity from residual waste and support a more sustainable future.

This hands-on shift role offers real responsibility, excellent training opportunities, and the chance to make a genuine environmental impact in the energy from waste and waste-to-energy sector. Working 12-hour shifts (days and nights), you'll average 42 hours per week with generous blocks of time off and bookable holidays.

In return, we offer a competitive salary (we are prepared to negotiate), Shift Allowance, up to 10% bonus, company pension, and a comprehensive benefits package.

What you'll be doing

You'll help keep our Aberdeen energy recovery plant running safely and efficiently:

* Monitor, control, and optimise plant processes using the Distributed Control System (DCS), quickly identifying and resolving issues.

* Operate and maintain water tube boilers, including water analysis, chemistry monitoring, and ensuring optimal performance.

* Perform safe system isolations and follow Permit to Work (PTW) procedures to protect people, plant, and the environment.

* Carry out regular checks, fault diagnosis, and support safe operations during normal running, start-ups, shutdowns, and emergencies.

* Ensure full compliance with health & safety, environmental legislation, and all operational protocols at all times.

What we're looking for

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experience levels — enthusiasm for safe, sustainable operations is just as important as technical knowledge:

* Experience in energy recovery, power generation, waste-to-energy, or similar industrial/process environments (highly desirable).

* Knowledge of boilers, combustion, process control, and relevant health & safety / environmental legislation.

* Mechanical, electrical, or process engineering experience (advantageous).

* Experience with Safe Systems of Work / Permit to Work (PTW) is beneficial.

* BOAS Cert IBO and/or IOSH Working Safely qualifications are preferred — if you don't have them yet, we'll fully support your development from day one.

We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups in engineering, energy, and sustainability sectors. If you require any reasonable adjustments during the application or interview process, please let us know — we're committed to being an inclusive employer.

This role delivers real impact on a greener future, ongoing training and mentorship, a supportive team environment, and the satisfaction of helping deliver reliable low-carbon energy for Aberdeen.

If you're reliable, safety-focused, and motivated by hands-on technical work with purpose, we'd love to hear from you.
