About the RoleWe're recruiting a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to support vulnerable children across a welcoming junior setting in Nottingham. This full-time role includes supporting pupils both in the classroom and through targeted interventions outside of class. You'll play a key role in promoting emotional wellbeing and engagement with learning, working closely with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral teams.

A key part of the role also includes lunchtime support (12:40-1:10pm daily), helping pupils positively interact during breaktimes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Assist with classroom learning under the guidance of the teacher
  • Promote consistent routines and positive behaviour strategies
  • Support pupils in regulating emotions and engaging in their learning
  • Facilitate safe and inclusive play during lunchtime
  • Build strong relationships with staff, pupils, and families

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour or additional needs
  • Calm, empathetic, and confident in de-escalating situations
  • Skilled in setting boundaries and promoting emotional development
  • Level 2 or 3 TA qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong communication skills and a team player mindset
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
