Physical Healthcare Nurse Practitioner

The MHSOP inpatient functional and organic wards within York which will both be based at Foss Park Hospital are looking to appoint an experienced Nurse Practitioner who is able to demonstrate a high degree of personal and professional skill in the physical health care of inpatients with mental health issues who are under the care of Adult Mental Health Services.

The post holder will be required to function at an advanced level of clinical practice, working with inpatients that have highly complex psychological and physical health care needs. This includes the provision of routine and urgent clinical examinations, assessments, diagnostic and screening services, the management of long term conditions and co-morbidities, the provision of health promotion advice and routine screening services.

The post holder will be regarded as a Specialist Nurse in physical health care within the inpatient service, leading on service developments and advising members of the multidisciplinary teams. The role will also include the provision of training and supervision to the mental health work force in relation to physical health care.

The post holder will be required to work independently and autonomously and be accountable for his or her own area of practice.

We are looking for an individual who has a positive attitude, can work within a multidisciplinary team and who is creative and can employ a problem solving approach to care delivery.
