The Assistant Vice President for Research Compliance (AVP) will provide vision and leadership on all matters related to research compliance. Reporting to the Vice President for Research and a member of the VPR's senior management team, the AVP will oversee all aspects of compliance related to research, which includes human subjects protection; animal care and use; research involving radiation, biohazards and other controlled substances; financial conflict of interest; responsible conduct of research; and export controls. The AVP ensures SUNY Poly's compliance with appropriate federal and NYS regulations related to SUNY Poly's research activities, including the responsibility for the implementation of education and training programs for faculty, staff and students in all areas of research compliance. Confidentiality is a primary expectation of this position as the AVP will be responsible for facilitating inquiries into alleged scientific misconduct. The AVP serves as institutional official with our accrediting and federal regulatory agencies.

Job Requirements:

+ Master's degree or equivalent required from a college or University accredited by the US Dept. of Education or other internationally recognized accrediting organization.

+ Five to seven years experience in compliance within a higher education, research institute or hospital research environment preferred.

+ Demonstrated experience with regulatory governmental agencies, accreditation or other oversight organizations.

+ Personable with demonstrated strengths in interpersonal relations and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals including faculty, staff, senior administrators, students and visitors.

+ Appreciation for twin values of customer-service and institutional stewardship

+ Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills

+ Proven excellence with oral and written communications

+ Exceptional managerial skills with demonstrated supervisory experience

+ Ability to maintain the highest level of professional conduct and integrity in all circumstances
