An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Audit Manager/Senior Manager to join a large established firm of Chartered Accountants in Southampton.
Our client is looking for someone ambitious to manage and lead a variety of audit assignments from start to finish, ensuring they are completed efficiently and within the required deadlines. You will also oversee a team of junior staff, mentoring and guiding them on technical complex issues.
Key duties include:-
- Managing various audit assignments from start through to completion, allocating work to relevant members of the audit team, ensuring deadlines are met and standards are complied with at all times.
- Compiling audit instructions where the firm act as group auditors, for dissemination to component auditors. Directing the approach of component auditors and assessing risk
- Reviewing audit work of overseas subsidiaries / IFRS / contract accounting / acquisitions / disposals / restructures and other higher level complexities within both file and financial statements
- Ensuring delivery of high-quality audit files, capable of achieving a high rating in both internal and external file quality reviews
- Maintaining commitment to producing high quality work in all aspects of audit work.
- Demonstrating a clear understanding of clients’ business, objectives, challenges and risks sufficient to brief more junior colleagues on assignment and direct work accordingly
- Looking to widen commercial knowledge and understand how this will impact clients and therefore audit risk assessment and approach
- Review WIP on a monthly basis to ensure that fees are raised for any work that is completed or at a billable stage and that any doubtful time that may not be recovered is adequately provided, by updating CCH with the required provision
- Maintaining up to date technical knowledge and awareness of wider business advisory opportunities through technical reading and attending in house departmental seminars, to identify potential issues and emerging opportunities in own and other service areas of the business
- Gaining experience of winning new work through input into the preparation of proposals, fee quotes and attending client tenders.
You will ideally hold a professional qualication such as ACCA/ACA and have at least 4-5 years post qualification UK audit experience in practice, with a strong management background.
