Job Summary/Objective KETOS is looking for an experienced Assistant Controller who can be located anywhere in the US. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing the overall accounting operations of the Company and will be the point person for the Company’s day-to-day accounting operations. This position will be hands on, interact and coordinate with colleagues in the various Business Units to ensure proper accounting treatment, execution of accounting functions and reporting of results. The Assistant Controller will also play a key leadership role in the Finance organization around process improvement and scaling accounting infrastructures and operations. This role has a lot of growth opportunity for the right individual. He/she will report to the VP, Finance & Operations. Key Responsibilities: ● Responsible for Company-wide accounting activities including but not limited to the following: accounts receivables, accounts payables, purchase orders, journal entries, reconciliations and preparation of financial statements. ● Administer and maintain the Company's accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP accounting rules and regulations. Ensure GAAP adherence by performing accounting research and preparing memos. ● Develop and drive accounting organization strategic initiatives, including driving the business process to ensure efficiency, scalability, and accuracy of accounts. Assess and maintain current systems and proactively drive implementation of new systems and system changes to meet the growing needs of the company. Work with accounting and other departments in the implementation of new accounting initiatives and to assist with the resolution of issues. ● Establish and manage a timely monthly/quarterly/yearly close process. ● Prepare monthly flux analysis for Income Statement and Balance Sheet accounts. ● Lead monthly meeting to review expenses. ● Implement inventory and cost accounting systems and procedures. ● Identify and implement opportunities to increase efficiencies and improve processes. ● Support the VP, Finance with the preparation of quarterly board presentations. ● Coordinate the planning and execution of annual audits with external auditors (when applicable). ● Coordinate quarterly and annual documentation for Tax returns, including Sales & Use Tax returns. ● Develop and maintain working relationships across all business units. ● Stays current in evolving accounting and regulatory requirements, and industry trends to proactively plan and implement accounting changes. ● Perform analyses to assist management in interpreting trends impacting the business. ● Performs other duties as required to support Finance Department. Requirements: ● Solid knowledge of US GAAP. ● BS/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is required ● Minimum 10 years of experience with taking on progressively higher responsibilities. ● Experience with physical products, including inventory, work-in-process is required. ● CPA is preferred. ● Proficient at use of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (currently using Quickbooks Online). ● Full fluency in English (both verbal and written communication skills). ● Experience doing financial modeling and projections as well as engineering of contracts. ● Experience in a fast moving tech start-up where you must get your “hands dirty” working with details, building systems and processes, and multi-tasking. ● Demonstrated ability to manage and guide a small team through fast-growth and change. ● Experience leading process change, project management, systems projects and controls compliance. ● Adaptable to various competing demands and demonstrate a high level of professionalism. ● Must be highly organized and have excellent attention to detail. ● Must be able to keep sensitive information confidential. ● Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential. ● Attention to detail and problem-solving ability with a drive for continuous improvement.
