Project Manager - Contracting
Location: Maidstone | Full-Time | Competitive Salary + Benefits Hybrid Company Car
Heidelberg Materials is seeking a skilled Project Manager for the contracting team to lead the delivery of major infrastructure and construction projects within our Contracting division. This is a pivotal role responsible for managing projects from early contractor involvement (ECI) through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the planning and execution of major projects, ensuring compliance with engineering and project management standards
- Champion health, safety, and environmental best practices across all project phases
- Ensure high-quality, defect-free delivery through effective resource planning and execution
- Manage client relationships, ensuring clear communication and alignment with contract objectives
- Control project budgets and timelines, supporting commercial teams with accurate site records
- Oversee compliance with statutory and company regulations
- Support continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives across the project portfolio
Health & Safety
- Lead a safety-first culture across all project phases
- Ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments
Project Delivery
- Manage the full lifecycle of major projects, from planning to completion
- Ensure delivery to time, budget, and quality standards using robust project management practices
Environment & Sustainability
- Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations (e.g. waste transfer, emissions)
- Promote sustainable practices and minimise environmental impact across all project activities
Client Liaison & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong communication with clients to ensure alignment with project goals
- Manage changes to scope or schedule in collaboration with clients to protect commercial outcomes
- Coordinate with internal teams (Operations, SHE, Procurement, Technical, etc.) and external stakeholders (suppliers, regulators, local authorities)
Financial Management
- Monitor project budgets and control costs to maximise financial returns
- Ensure accurate site records are maintained to support commercial reporting and claims
- Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives

Experience/Business Competence
· Detailed asphalt and contracting knowledge
· Detailed road construction and programming knowledge
· Numerical and analytical
· Has experience of delivering major contracts successfully
· Ability to work accurately at a detailed level
