A CalWest partner school in the East San Fernando Valley of Greater Los Angeles is seeking a K-8 Principal with administrative and teaching experience. Must be charismatic with strong communication skills.
Set and enforce rigorous academic standards and monitor student achievement that is in line with the goals of the school.
Work the school administrator to develop goals and objectives consistent with the mission and values of the school. Work with teachers and administrators in developing a healthy school culture aligned with the mission, vision and values of the school. Create a culture of excellence, team work and collaboration among the staff, teachers, students and families to support strong retention. Manage student recruitment and enrollment process to ensure that the school achieves its targeted enrollment projections. Ensure the safety and security of all students, staff, visitors, and public and private property.
Oversee, manage, evaluate and develop a team of teachers to improve student achievement results by expanding upon the traditional academic methods while implementing new 21 century learning modes and methodologies. Evaluate and coach teachers to improve their teaching practice.
Develop a budget with the assistance of the school administrator and Finance/Accounting Team that meets targeted requirements. Lead and support fund raising activities to raise money for capital improvements. Ensure compliance of local, state, and federal laws and regulations and court orders.
Recruit, select, and hire school staff, including teachers and school-based support staff. Continually monitor the progress of the staff to ensure peak performance. Provide for adequate supervision, training, and evaluation of all staff and volunteers.
Serve as the institutional leader and liaison between teachers, parents, and the community. Work with the parent organizations, parent ambassadors and admissions to promote the school in the community at large.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning required; MA preferred
- Possession of a valid preliminary or clear teaching credential required; Administrative credential preferred
- Minimum of three years of successful, full-time, lead teaching experience required
- Minimum of three years of administrative or leadership experience in a school setting required
- Strong communication skills
- Unquestioned integrity and commitment to the school's mission
