Job Description


This position is primarily responsible for partnering with the firm’s executive management team, as part of the Accounting Department by performing the following duties.


Core duties and responsibilities, among others, include the following:

·         Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements, review balances and apply analytical skills to identify, research, and document significant changes in balances;

·         Perform month-end close procedures; reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts; prepare monthly reporting package (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, actual/budget variance analysis and financial statement analysis);

·         Review and perform analysis of general ledger transactions and accounts on a monthly basis;

·         Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information;

·         Prepares adjusting general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts;

·         Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data;

·         Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining  personal networks; participating in professional organizations;

·         Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential;

·         Develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets to prepare analytical reports using advanced Excel functions;

·         Team player, willing to assist other members of  the department as needed and flexibility to complete special projects;

·         Assist with field work for financial and operational Audits including any client audits;

·         Assist in any other Adhoc Projects  as requested by Management;

·         Assist in Month End and Year End Close.

·         Oversee and assist in supervision of Accounts Payable Staff

·         Assist with Annual Insurance Review applications

·         Gather and Review data for Year End Business Property Statements by State

·         Assist in the Budgeting Process

·         Fixed Assets Management by location



·         Prior law firm experience  is preferred

·         Minimum 2 - 5 years’ experience

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Superior attention to detail

·         Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and prioritize workload and projects

·         Excellent analytical, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills

·         The ability to exercise independent judgment, and to work with and maintain confidential and sensitive information

·         Ideal candidate will be motivated to acquire further accounting education


Education and/or Experience:          


·         Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study



 ·         Must be proficient in MS Office programs

·         Advanced Excel skills
