Exciting Opportunity for an English Teacher in Levenshulme!

Are you a passionate and dedicated English Teacher seeking a new opportunity? Teaching Personnel is thrilled to present a full-time position for an English Teacher at an Ofsted Good secondary school in Levenshulme. This role is available to start in September for the full academic year, with the potential for permanency based on performance. The salary for this role is £30,000 to £46,525 per annum, in line with PayScale.

Role Overview:

As an English Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and empower students through the exploration of literature, language, and communication skills. You will play a key role in developing students' literacy skills, critical thinking abilities, and appreciation for the written word, while fostering a love for reading and writing.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive English lessons that cover a wide range of topics, including literature, language analysis, and writing skills, tailored to the needs and interests of students.

Literature Study: Introduce students to a variety of literary genres, texts, and authors, and facilitate discussions and analysis to deepen their understanding of themes, characters, and narrative techniques.

Language Skills: Teach students essential language skills, such as reading comprehension, vocabulary development, grammar, and punctuation, through a variety of activities and exercises.

Writing Development: Support students in developing their writing skills across different genres and formats, including creative writing, persuasive essays, analytical responses, and formal presentations.

Literacy Across the Curriculum: Promote literacy across the curriculum by integrating reading and writing activities into other subject areas, fostering interdisciplinary connections and reinforcing literacy skills.

Assessment and Feedback: Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, provide constructive feedback, and track their development over time, supporting their growth as confident and proficient readers and writers.

Differentiation: Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students, including those with special educational needs and English as an additional language (EAL), ensuring that all students have equitable access to the curriculum.

Pastoral Support: Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, fostering positive relationships, addressing any academic or personal concerns, and promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Ideal Candidate:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in English or related field.

Passion for English literature, language, and literacy education, and a commitment to inspiring students to become confident and proficient communicators.

Previous experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably within a UK school setting.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities.

Strong subject knowledge and a willingness to continuously develop and enhance teaching practices.
