The Role A Citation Data Engineer will be able to adapt to a fast paced and evolving architectural landscape. They will need to industrialise the delivery of data products and services into systems and business processes with the requisite level of control and integrity.

* You will design, build, test and maintain data management systems, ensuring they meet business requirements and user needs; and most importantly be aligned to strategic plans. * You will need a significant set of technical skills, including deep knowledge of data engineering best practices coupled with communication skills to work across departments to understand what business leaders want to gain from Citation's large datasets. * You will be responsible for expanding and optimising our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimising data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. You will be an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimising data systems and building them from the ground up, ensuring requisite levels of integrity and reconciliation. * You will support our software developers, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.

The Person

We are looking for someone who can roll their sleeves up and 'dig in' with the rest of the team. In addition, the successful candidate should be able to: * Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture * Assemble large, complex data sets that meet both functional and non-functional requirements * Identify, design and implement internal process improvements; automating manual processes and optimising data delivery * Deliver updates to stakeholders based on analytics * Liaise with key stakeholders to identify areas for improvement * Create and maintain technical documentation * Works collaboratively with a range of people to support the wider business agenda * Proactively identifies areas for improvement, shares lessons learnt with colleagues and encourages others to do the same * Be flexible in approach and being mindful of change * Have a can-do attitude with a focus on deadlines and delivery

Education & Experience: * Strong understanding of data warehousing and developing ETL processes * Demonstrated experience of working with various data integration tools, such as Jitterbit, essential * Experience building and optimizing 'big data' data pipelines, architectures and data sets * Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement * Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets * Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management * A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets * Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable 'big data' data stores * Strong project management and organizational skills * Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment * SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases * Working in an agile/ devops environment * Working with third party suppliers in terms of solution delivery * Working with business stakeholders * Educated to degree standard * Ideally have experience of delivering with on and offshore development teams
