RG Consultancy are working with an excellent company based in Wigan who are looking for a motivated Accounts Assistant to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. This role reports directly to the Finance Manager and offers the opportunity to join a collaborative finance team of three, with opportunity for career progression.
Job Purpose:
The Accounts Assistant will provide key operational support to the finance team, primarily focusing on purchase ledger activities while also supporting credit control and wider finance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions
- Take ownership of all purchase ledger duties, managing and maintaining accurate supplier accounts
- Process invoices including stock and overhead expenses
- Process employee expenses
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Assist with month end journals
- Assist with the preparation of VAT returns by collating and checking relevant financial data
- Support the Finance Manager with month-end processes including reconciliations and reporting preparation
- Manage the finance team inbox and respond to internal and external queries
- Perform data entry and general administrative tasks
- Assist with maintaining accurate financial records and supporting audit requirements where necessary
- Provide general office support as required
Person Specification:
- Experience working in an SME environment is essential
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word)
