ESG MANAGER

Environment, Social and Governance Manager

Our client is a leading grower, importer, packer and distributor of avocadoes and other fruits into the UK. They are a growing business and are looking to appoint an experienced ESG Manager to join their successful team.

Salary: DOE.

Location: Spalding.

Job Purpose

Responsible for developing, planning, and executing the company's ethical and sustainability strategies to ensure internal and external stakeholder objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

· Risk assess suppliers and prospective suppliers for human rights issues, considering customer requirements, local and international legislation.

· Provide practical guidance and training for suppliers on human rights issues throughout global supply chains.

· Build and develop positive relationships with key suppliers and arrange strategic reviews to assess supplier performance.

· Display understanding of specific customer objectives and incorporate these into the overall supplier ethical trading programme to ensure supply chain integrity and transparency.

· Assist in co-ordinating global second/third party audits and closing out of audit non-conformances.

· Risk assess suppliers and implement action plans to support continuous improvement towards sustainability targets. Particular emphasis to be placed on carbon, water usage, soil health, IPM/biodiversity and pesticides.

· Ensure business practices and products are compliant with government environmental legislation and wider net zero targets.

· Lead 3rd party ethical and environmental site audits.

· Line management responsibility for three ESG team members

· Communicate internally and externally to promote the ESG initiatives implemented within the company.

Working conditions

· Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm (exact start/finish time negotiable) 40 hour week.

· Hybrid working, opportunity of up to two days working from home.

· Mobile phone/mileage allowance provided

Requirements

· Minimum of two years' experience of working in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility, auditing food businesses, ensuring that they comply with all social and ethical regulations and guidelines.

· Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

· Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Spanish speaking (desirable, not essential)

The work at times will involve travelling abroad, to visit and audit farms and packers whom our client works with.
