At Knowsley Borough Council, we are on an ambitious improvement journey following our recent Ofsted inspection. This is an exciting time to join our Children Looked After Team, where your expertise will directly contribute to shaping and improving services for some of our most vulnerable children.
About the Role As an Experienced Social Worker within the Children Looked After Team, you will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of children who are in the care of the local authority, including those subject to care proceedings and full care orders.
You will:

Build meaningful relationships with children and young people in care, ensuring their voices are central to all planning
Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop care plans that promote stability, permanence, and positive outcomes
Work in partnership with families, carers, and multi-agency professionals to safeguard and promote welfare
Prepare high-quality reports for court and attend proceedings where required
Contribute to permanence planning, including long-term fostering, adoption, or reunification
Ensure statutory visits and reviews are completed in line with legislative requirements
Manage risk effectively and make evidence-based decisions to support children's safety and wellbeingWhat We're Looking For To be successful in this role, you will:

Be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
Have experience working with children in care or within statutory children's services
Demonstrate strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills
Be confident in court work and care planning processes
Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships
