Job Description

Job Title: Legal Secretary for Senior Family Law Partner

Job Purpose:
To provide a high-quality secretarial and administrative service to a partner and other fee earners.

Benefits:
A competitive salary (£30,000 - £34,000) depending on experience, plus additional benefits including pension, bonus, free parking, and extra holiday at Christmas.

Main Responsibilities/Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to:

*

Full range of secretarial work including audio typing, preparation of legal documents (experience of court forms an advantage), and answering calls.

*

Diary management for a busy senior partner.

*

Managing financial processes, billing clients, debt collection, and handling billing enquiries.

*

Assisting fee-earners with court preparation.

*

Liaising with clients professionally and courteously.

*

Working under pressure to meet deadlines.

*

Photocopying and scanning bundles, disclosure and other documents.

*

Regularly maintaining and updating filing systems.

*

Preparing and amending attendance notes, letters, presentations, and other documents using Microsoft Office and Document Management Systems (Leap).

*

Maintaining confidentiality of clients and contacts at all times.

*

Handling incoming and outgoing post duties.

*

Greeting clients/visitors and preparing refreshments.

*

Assisting with general office administration.

Desirable Skills/Attributes

*

Legal secretarial experience, preferably in family law but not essential.

*

Ability to work independently with initiative, discretion, and confidentiality.

*

Good organisational skills with a flexible, pragmatic, and problem-solving approach.

*

Professional presentation and strong client handling skills.

*

Proficiency in MS Office packages, including BigHand, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

*

Excellent attention to detail with effective oral and written communication skills.

*

A collaborative team member with the ability to build relationships quickly and communicate effectively
